WORDS OF DHAMMA

Kumbhupamam kayamimam viditva,
Nagarupamam cittamidam thapetva;
Yodhetha mara, paññavudhena,
Jitañca rakkhe anivesano siya.

Knowing the body to be as fragile as an earthen pot, making the mind secure and strong like a fortress, one should battle Mara with the weapon of wisdom, then guard what's won by keeping watch over the mind and remaining detached.

- Dhammapada 40, Cittavagga

It is a documentary showcasing the history of Vipassana and concentrates on the early years of the construction of the Global Vipassana Pagoda until mid-2006. It details how the structure was built and how the novel construction method of masonry was used instead of concrete.

In this discourse, Mr. S. N. Goenka explains Vipassana meditation as a science of mind and matter, its universal non-sectarian nature and its relevance to the society

Address by Mr. S. N. Goenka to the Millennium World Peace Summit on 29 August 2000 at the General Assembly Hall of the United Nations. In this address, he explained why every individual should be happy and peaceful to form an ideal society

This documentary is a compelling account of an intensive pilot meditation program for inmates at the N.F.R. minimum security jail near Seattle, Washington. Under the guidance of both community volunteers and facility staff members, seven women inmates undertake ten days of total silence. They practice the ancient meditation technique of Vipassana for ten hours each day, delving ever deeper into themselves to understand and ultimately master the nature of their behaviors and compulsions.

This documentary is the story of how hope came to one of the most notorious prisons in the world - Tihar Jail in New Delhi. It is also the story of India's first woman Inspector General of Prisons, Kiran Bedi, and how she dared to fight for genuine rehabilitation of the thousands under her care. Most of all it is the story of the prison inmates themselves, and the profound changes they underwent through the practice of Vipassana meditation.
